Here are some tips and tricks you may have missed to help guide you through Sludgineers. After completing the game, here are the most important mechanics we recommend to help you complete the game.

Sludgineers Gameplay Guide
Each level is a map that has been overtaken by sludge (Draxium), toxic gas (Vexon) and crystals (Zorkite) that need cleaning up. You'll follow a linear path across the world overview, with each completed level unlocking the next one.
Each game begins with the map completely overtaken by various pollutants and it's your job to hoover it all up. You have three different tools: A Vacuum Hoover, a Jackhammer and autonomous Drones.
You start with full energy and once it reaches 0% the game is over. You keep any rewards you earned when the game ends, even if you don't complete the level.
When you clear certain areas of the map, they have a chance to drop items. These items can contain things like Batteries, which will replenish your energy power.
You can also purchase upgrades from the Upgrade menu; each node can be levelled up if you have enough resources. You have a lot of freedom with upgrades, so you'll want to choose carefully about where you spend your resources.
Unlock Auto-Refine As Soon As Possible
When you reach the second map, you'll unlock the Refinery. Here you can place Barrels (that you earn by collecting resources in each level) that will slowly be converted into resources you need for upgrades.
- Zorkite - Zorkom
- Draxium Sludge - Draxine
- Vexon Gas - Vexogen
At the early-stages of this mechanic, you have to manually put the barrels into the Refinery and collect them when it finishes. This will slow you down as you're constantly leaving your levels to collect.
Luckily, in the Upgrades menu, you can purchase Automatic Loading and Automatic Collecting of resources.
When you get these upgrades, you never have to worry about the Refinery again.
Choose Early Reveals
Each map is different, so you have to learn what goes where. Some areas of the map take longer to clean-up than others, so you want to try and find the easy-to-reveal areas early-on, so you get item drops.
This will allow you to collect Batteries and keep progression going longer.
Each item-drop is random, so sometimes you will just get unlucky when revealing areas. But learning the maps and knowing the easy-reveal spots will make all the difference.
Where To Find Diamonds
Diamonds are required for Achievements and Quests towards the end of Sludgineers.
Diamonds are obtainable from Safes (those rocks that spin a wheel and reward you when they land in the green area).
You can also get Diamonds from the giant rocks called Dense Zorkite Crystals.
There are several Upgrades that also increase the rate at which Diamonds drop:
- Safe Diamonds
- Dense Crystal Diamonds
Prioritise Volcanos and Vexon Gas Veins
The Volcanos introduced mid-game will re-cover the surface area with Draxiunm Sludge. You should try to get rid of these as soon as possible, otherwise you'll waste precious Energy Power re-hoovering up the same areas.
Likewise with Vexon Gas Veins; these will continue to produce toxic clouds across the map, eventually covering the entire map if you leave them too long.
Both of these require the Jackhammer Tool to destroy them, so prioritise Upgrades on the left side of the menu that help increase damage.
You can gain Splash Damage by upgrading Crystal Shrapnel; but it's not super useful for dealing more damage to the Volcanoes and Gas Veins.
Make The Most Of Turbo Charge
When you get the upgrade that unlocks Turbo Charge, it will activate when your energy drops below a certain percent.
Turbo Charge is extremely powerful, allowing you to reveal areas of the maps a lot quicker. However, you have to be careful because it can drain your Battery to 0% and cause game-over.
The trick is to keep your Energy Level below the Turbo Mode Activation level for as long as possible.
You'll want to leave your Battery items on the ground until you get to around 1-3% energy, allowing you to make the most of the Turbo Boost time.
There are several Upgrades that can help:
- Low Energy Turbo Mode
- Turbo Mode Activation (35%)
- Turbo Mode Power (3.5x)
Turbo Boosts also drop randomly when you reveal areas of the map, which automatically activate Turbo mode for a short period of time.
Best Map For Cash and Resources
The best map for farming resources is the last map in the game called G-Neric Corp Lab.
You can easily farm around $40,000 cash and get all the materials you need for upgrades in this map. This is especially useful when looking to get 100% on Achievements.
Make sure you have the following upgrades maxed for cash multipliers:
- Completion Cash Booster (1.3x)
- Object Bonus Booster (1.3x)
You also don't have to re-fight the boss once you complete it for the first time.
In general, you should always play the latest locked-map, as the resources you get from each map steadily increase. There isn't much use replaying older maps.
Infinite Money AFK
If you're aiming for the 100% Complete Upgrades Achievement, you're going to need a lot of resources.
You can either replay the same map over and over again, or you can let your game idle and AFK.
All you have to do is unlock all of the Refinery upgrades and you can earn around $1,500 per minute. The most important upgrades are:
- Zorkite Ore Barrels Rewards
- Draxium Sludge Barrels Rewards
- Vexon Gas Barrels Rewards
