Opening Pokemon TCG Chilling Reign Elite Trainer Box - 8 Booster Packs!

calendar_todayPosted on 25th June 2021

We've managed to get our hands on the latest Pokemon TCG Chilling Reign Elite Trainer Box and today we're opening it up to showcase what's inside. We'll also show off what cards we got inside the 8 Booster Packs included with the box using our Booster Pack Opener.

Elite Trainer Boxes are great ways to introduce players to the Pokemon Trading Card Game. They come with not only a Booster Packs, but also other items that can allow new players to setup a game right away.

Opened Chilling Reign Elite Trainer Box

Chilling Reign has released two versions of the ETB, and they come with:

  • 8 Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield—Chilling Reign booster packs
  • 65 card sleeves featuring Ice Rider Calyrex or Shadow Rider Calyrex
  • 45 Pokémon TCG Energy cards
  • A player's guide to the Sword & Shield—Chilling Reign expansion
  • A Pokémon TCG rulebook
  • 6 damage-counter dice
  • 1 competition-legal coin-flip die
  • 2 acrylic condition markers
  • A collector's box to hold everything, with 4 dividers to keep it organized
  • A code card for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online

As you can see, the ETB gives you a nice introduction to the Pokemon TCG with the useful rulebook on how to player, damage counters for scoring hits on Pokemon, coins for when moves require a coin-flip to determine the outcome and a whole host of energy cards to help build up decks.

Chilling Reign ETB

Of course, there is also a nice 8 Booster Packs of the new Chilling Reign set to open. In terms of value for money, buying 8 individual booster packs at $3.99 each will set you back $31.92 and an ETB will cost you around $40.

They also very useful for storing your cards to keep them safe as the box is very sturdy, and you also get some card sleeves to put all your Rainbow Rares in!

Summary

This is actually a really decent ETB pull! The Celebi VMAX is a beautiful card and one of the favorites in the set. We also got the Ice Rider Calyrex V card, who is featured in the Chilling Reign promotion, the Galarian Slowking V and the full-art trainer Avery! Too bad we didn't get any of the Best Cards to Pull in Chilling Reign set!

The pull-rates for Chilling Reign have been chastised by the community already with many saying the pull-rate for the rare cards are incredibly difficult. This set also is one of the largest sets to be released, with over 30 secret rare cards for players to collect!

I'm not looking forward to trying to get all the cards for the Chilling Reign Card List.

Hey don't necessarily need this posted but I bought one of these boxes today at my local Walmart. From the 8 packs I only pulled one full art card which was a Shadow Rider Calyrex, however, it has no texture. Is it possible to get fakes from these boxes. I also bought 8 packs of vivid voltage and pulled 2 other untextured V cards along with an amazing rare and textured V card. So I can't figure if the untextured are fakes from packs purchased at Walmart or what?
