Pokemon TCG McDonalds Event sells out early!

August 11, 2025

A special promotion between McDonalds and Pokemon TCG has ended early after fans flocked to restaurants to get their hands on a special Pikachu Pokemon Card.

The limited-edition Pikachu is part of a set of cards that is exclusive to the McDonalds promotion, where fans can get their hands on special booster packs from Happy Meals.

The card shows Pikachu eating a hamburger, with a special McDonalds stamp featured on the card. Since the announcement back in July, fans have been anticipating the release eagerly with the expectation that it will sell out.

And now it appears it has sold out!

Ebay Listings

The Pikachu card is being sold on sites like eBay and going for between $20-$30 each. With the cards only being available for 3 days, it seems this promotion has really got fans clamoring for the card.

Pokemon TCG is currently in a new hyper-boom, with many of the new Pokemon Sets selling out in record times and many places having very limited stock.

The latest set released for Pokemon TCG has been the Pokemon TCG Black Bolt and White Flare sets.

The next set to be released is a brand new series called Mega Evolution.

Cards In The Set

The collaboration is currently only between McDonalds Japan and Pokemon TCG, and they have just issued a statement stating that the cards will no longer be available in their restaurants.

Happy Set® "Pokémon" Weekend Bonus "Pokémon Card" distribution has ended at all stores.
The first Toy of Happy Set® "Pokémon" has also been discontinued at many stores.
We apologize for not being able to meet the expectations of our customers due to the early end of sales.

For three days from 8/9 (Sat) to 8/11 (Monday, National Holiday), Happy Set® "Pokémon" is requested to be purchased up to 5 sets per person.

Please refrain from reselling, reselling, or other purchases for profit.

In addition, please refrain from ordering the amount that you can not eat.

Please refrain from making inquiries about inventory to stores.

The original campaign was only going to be a short one anyway; from August 8th-11th, with a limit of 5 Happy Meals per person being set.

However, that hasn't stopped some people from bulk buying the Happy Meals, with reports that people are literally dumping the food in the street whilst taking the cards.

The other cards in the set appear to be:

  • Sprigatito
  • Fuecoco
  • Quaxly
  • Ralts
  • Lucario
  • Pikachu

This isn't the first time a McDonalds Promotion has caused chaos with Pokemon TCG fans. Back in 2021, Pokemon released a set of Pokemon cards through McDonalds Happy Meals in America and Europe, with many restaurants selling out before the event was over.

That being said, the price of those cards hasn't increased tremendously since they were first released; you can still pick up a 25th Anniversary McDonalds Booster Pack for less than $5.

Coming To Amercia/Europe?

We have no news yet whether this particular promo set will be coming to USA or European countries yet.

Collaborations between Pokemon and McDonalds happen quite often, so we'll have to wait and see if we get these cards printed in English.

Would you like to see this card be released in your country? Let us know in the comments!

Those 2021 packs were 4 cards with a guaranteed confetti holo, and there were 25 cards with holo and non-holo versions (50 total), so completing a true master set was a grind.
