Laboratory Guide - IdleOn

The Laboratory can be found in World 4 of IdleOn and allows you to gain account-wide bonuses by AFKing. The Laboratory also gives you access to various Laboratory Chips and Jewels that you can unlock for more bonuses.

When you first reach Hyperion Nebula (W4), you'll be able to access the Laboratory. Here you can upload your character, essentially parking them in AFK mode, where they can connect to various nodes in the Laboratory that give bonuses.

As your Laboratory Level increases, you'll be able to connect to more nodes and thus unlock more bonuses. You'll want to get every IdleOn character to the Laboratory at some point in order to unlock all the nodes.

How the IdleOn Laboratory Works

Every character on your IdleOn account can be "uploaded" to the mainframe, where they do nothing but sit in a tube (AFK).

A character that has been uploaded will gain Lab EXP and allow them to level up their Lab Skill Level.

Increasing a character's Lab Skill Level will increase their Pixel Reach, which in turn allows them to connect to more nodes.

Starting from left to right, you can chain your characters together across the Laboratory interface. When they're within range of various nodes or Jewels, they'll automatically link up to them and activate that account-wide bonus. 

If you make your character go offline (i.e. no longer sitting in a tube AFKing) the character is unlinked from The Laboratory and no longer will unlink any nodes you have connected. Unless you unlock the Divinity God Arctis, which makes a character always active in The Laboratory.

Jewels and Console Chips can be purchased from the Chip Repository (click the Strung Jewels hanging from the Laboratory board to open the shop). They rotate each week and cost different materials to purchase.

Jewels act like mini-nodes you can link up to, each with their own account-wide bonus.

Console Chips can be assigned to characters from the Console tab in the Laboratory. Each chip has a different effect that will only apply to the character it is equipped to.

Laboratory Mainframe Bonuses

Below are all the Laboratory Mainframe Bonuses you can connect to. 

You can expand the Laboratory bonuses by purchasing them from the World 6 Jade Emporium Shop.

Laboratory Jewels

You can purchase Laboratory Jewels from the Chip Repository. There will be 1-2 Jewels available per week.

Jewels act as mini-nodes; unlocking all of the same Jewel color will unlock another bonus.

Laboratory Chips

You can purchase Laboratory Chips from the Chip Repository. Each week 2 Chips will be rotated into the shop.

You can equip chips to your characters in the Console of the Laboratory. A character can equip up to 7 chips at Lab Level 75.

Laboratory Guide

The Laboratory can feel like a bit of a wall in IdleOn as it requires you to literally do nothing in order to progress. It's therefor vital to make sure you're getting Lab EXP bonuses from all the other sources to make this part of the game as painless as possible.

Your first target should be to get all your characters to Level 75. This will give you enough Pixel Width to connect all the main Laboratory Nodes (apart from the bonus ones unlocked from the Jade Emporium in World 6).

At Lab Level 75 you'll also be able to equip up to 7 Console Chips per characters, allowing you to make the most of the bonuses they give.

Once you have all the main bonuses connected, you can then progress as normal. You can put half your characters into the Lab and have the others work on progressing other areas of the game. 

  

Don't forget to make the most of the Gem Shop Souped Up Lab Tubes. They cost 480 Gems each, but allow characters who are AFK in them to gain 2x Lab EXP and gain an additional +30% Line Width.

Make sure you're also working on Cooking and Pet Breeding, as Meals and Spices are used to purchase Jewels and Console Chips.

If you're lucky enough to get the King Doot pet, whenever you place a character in the Laboratory, it will also count as though they are sitting on the Divinity Shrine, allowing you to level up both these skills at once.

For end-game, you'll want to get your Laboratory Levels to around 150-200, making sure you can connect to all nodes and Jewels.

How To Unlock The Chip Repository

The Chip Repository is where you can buy Console Chips and Jewels for the Laboratory. Each week a new rotation of chips and a Jewel is selected.

To unlock the Chip Repository, you need to purchase 3 Pile Of Processor Chips and hold down on them.

To unlock the Jewel Spinner, you need to purchase 7 Strung Jewels and hold down on them.

Both the Strung Jewels and Pile Of Processor Chips can be purchased from the World 4 Vendor, but you can only purchase 1 per day.
