If you want to get all Four Star Diamond Lugia pictures, this guide will show you how!

In order to unlock Lugia in New Pokemon Snap, you need to have finished the main storyline. If you need help with this, check out our New Pokemon Snap Walkthrough.

This is the #121 Pokemon in the New Pokemon Snap Photodex.

How To Unlock Lugia in New Pokemon Snap

Lugia can be found in Lental Seafloor at Research Level 3.

Lugia Alternative Route

You will need to take the alternative route at the beginning of Lental Seafloor, which is unlocked by following the Clawitzer as he comes out of a cave to your left at the very beginning of the stage. Entering the cave will take you past a Starmie being attacked by a Tentacruel, where you will come to a huge opening and slowly descend.

The next few steps are very important.

Lanturn Lugia

As you descend, you will notice a Lanturn swimming nearby. Throw an Illumina Orb at it so that it dives down past you as a Sharkpedo chases him.

Frillish Lugia

Next locate the two Frillish (one blue and one pink) couple. As soon as the Wailord swims past them, you will notice that the two Frillish are attacking the Lanturn from before. Throw an Illumina Orb at them so that the Lanturn is let go.

Lanturn Lugia Cave

The Lanturn will then swim down and head to Lugia's Cave, opening up the alternative route. You will need to perform this action every single time you want to visit Lugia.

Lugia Crystalbloom Locations

Lugia will be asleep to your right. You can wake him up by throwing Illumina Orbs at the two Crystalbloom near him (one at the front, and one at the back, elevated on a cliff).

All Star Ranks Lugia Pictures

Here is a how you get the specific Lugia Diamond Rank Pictures for your Pokemon Photodex.

1 Star Lugia

Lugia One Star Diamond Rank

1 Star Diamond Lugia is getting a close up of Lugia sleeping, which should be easy to do considering he is in this position as soon as you find him.

2 Star Lugia

Lugia Two Star Diamond Rank

2 Star Diamond Lugia can be gotten when it is flying away from you. You first need to wake it up and then after it has roared, it flies above you and away into the depths of the ocean. Try getting it center of the frame for the Diamond rank.

3 Star Lugia

Lugia Three Star Diamond Rank

3 Star Diamond Lugia requires you to wake up Lugia. You can do this by throwing two Illumina Orbs at the nearby Crystalblooms. You will want to get Lugia in a good close-up and center of the picture.

4 Star Lugia

Lugia Four Star Diamond Rank

4 Star Diamond Lugia requires you to pull one-extra task. After awakening Lugia, he swims off into the ocean. He will reappear shortly and then you need to throw Fluffruit at him. He will appear for a third time above some ruins and if you hit him with Fluffruit, he will use his Seafloor Roar attack. This is when you should snap for the 4-star Diamond picture.

Seafloor Roar Research Title

The Seafloor Roof Research Title requires you to get a picture of Lugia doing his Seafloor Blast move. This will also give you the 4-star Diamond picture, so you just need to follow these steps:

  • Head to Lugia's Cave by following the unlock instructions above
  • Once inside, throw Illumina Orbs at the two Crystalbloom either side of Lugia (one has a Magikarp near it)
  • Once Lugia is awake, he will swim off into the ocean depths
  • He reappears in front of you, swimming past. Throw Fluffruits to hit him so that he does a twirl as he swims past you.
  • Lugia will then reappear above some ruin rocks. Throw Fluffruit at him and he will then use his Seafloor Blast move. Take a picture!

Lugia Seafloor Roar Icon
