MapleStory Cygnus Prequest Guide - 2020 Updated

Cygnus is a boss that requires completing a series of prequests in order to unlock and be able to fight the Normal Cygnus boss. There are two versions of the Cygnus boss, Easy and Normal modes. You can only defeat Cygnus once per week despite what mode you choose.

The benefits of defeating Normal Cygnus is that she drops better loot, including in Reboot World a Condensed Power Crystal that sells for 43,000,000 Mesos. She also drops a Soul Shard, which is considered one of the best ones in the game.

Easy Cygnus does not require you to complete the prequest and can be entered by using the boss queue system.

Once completed, accepting the following quest from NPC Chief Alex.

(Lv.165)[Knight Stronghold] Scouting the Stronghold - Chief Alex

Head to Knight Stronghold: Stronghold Entrance map. You must enter the map manually (teleporting won't work).

Try and enter the portal on the right of the map to complete the quest.

Head back to Henesys Ruins and speak to Chief Alex to complete the quest.

Head back to Knight Stronghold: Stronghold Entrance map.

Defeat the Official Knight A mobs that spawn to get a Cygnus Knight Emblem etc drop.

Head back to Henesys Ruins and speak to Chief Alex to complete the quest.

Defeat 75 Official Knight A and 75 Official Knight B mobs in Knight Stronghold: Knight District 1.

Head back to Chief Alex to complete the quest.

Hunt Official Knight B for 1 Cheery Book etc drop.

Head back to Henesys Ruins and speak to Jay to complete the quest.

Head back to Henesys Ruin and speak to Ex-Chief Stan

Go to Knight Stronghold: Knight District 3 and defeat Official Knight C to find Stan's Letter etc drop.

Head back to Henesys Ruin and speak to Chief Alex to complete the quest.

Collect 30 Knight Gloves from Official Knight D (Knight District 3) and 30 Knight Bandana from Official Knight C (Knight District 2)

Head back to Henesys Ruin and speak to Camila to complete the quest.

Collect 60 Knight's Paldron from Official Knight E (Knight District 4).

Head back to Henesys Ruin and speak to Camila to complete the quest.

Head back to Henesys Ruin and speak to Big Headward to complete the quest.

A quest will appear in a bubble above your head. Accept it.

Speak to Chief Alex to complete the quest.

(Lv.165)[Knight Stronghold] Rescue Neinheart - Chief Alex

Head to Knight District 4 and use the top portal to go to Knight Stronghold: Secret Grove.

Defeat all the mobs in the map to free Neinheart. Speak to Neinheart to complete the quest.

(Lv.165)[Knight Stronghold] Versus Advanced Knights - Neinheart

You need to defeat 40 of Advanced Knight A, B, C, D and E. You can find them all in the map Knight Stronghold: Hall Of Honor.

Head back to Neinheart to complete the quest.

Head to Knight Stronghold: Knight District 2 and speak to Informant to start the next quest.

Go to the Knight Stronghold: Hall Of Honor map and use the bottom right portal.

Head back to Henesys Ruin and speak to Chief Alex to complete the quest.

Defeat Cygnus!

You now need to craft the Dream Key which is used to enter the Normal Cygnus map. Head to the map Knight Stronghold: Knight District 2 to get started.

At the top of this map is a portal to Knight Stronghold: Hallowed Ground. When you try to enter there are 5 different versions. Each version of the map has mobs in it that drop a key ingredient used to craft the Dream Key.

Hallowed Ground of Dawn - Dawn Stone
Hallowed Ground of Blaze - Blaze Stone
Hallowed Ground of Wind - Wind Stone
Hallowed Ground of Night - Night Stone
Hallowed Ground of Thunder - Thunder Stone

You only need 1 of each.

The Thunder Stone is a Use item. Double click on it in your Use Inventory and it will generate a Dream Key. You can only craft one a day.

Congratulations, you can now enter Normal Cygnus and defeat her. You can find her entrance map at the bottom right portal of Hall Of Honor.

You can defeat Normal Cygnus once a week.
