MapleStory Shadower Skill Build Guide

MapleStory Shadower Skill Build Guide

calendar_todayPosted on 25th September 2020

MapleStory Shadower is a 4th job class of the Explorer Thief job branch. Shadower doesn't use Throwing Stars, instead they use their dagger to deal ninja-like moves from the shadows. This job branch used to be known mostly for it's chief bandit skill, Meso Explosion, which was highly useful against bosses with lots of HP. But times have changed, and now Shadower's enjoy great mobility, decent mobbing and stack up well when bossing.

Shadower Overview

Starting at level 10 in Kerning City, the Dark Lord Job Advancement instructor allows you to choose the path of Rouge. Training is slow in the beginning levels due to having no decent mobbing skills, but as you climb towards 4th job, you will then start to train faster. Shadower follows the path of Bandit at level 30, Chief Bandit at level 60 and finally Shadower at level 100.

Unlike Night Lord, you don't need to use Throwing Stars for this Thief class.

Whilst Shadower's main mobbing skill isn't the great (Boomerang Step), when you reach a decent amount of damage mobbing becomes very fun as Meso Explosion can help wipe out entire maps. Training them is a bit of a struggle as the skills don't have wide hit-boxes in the early levels and since Shadower is an Explorer, their damage is usually lacking behind the newer classes.

That being said, they have some of the most useful bossing skills in the game. Smokescreen offers a party-wide damage reduction skill and critical damage boost, as well as having an i-frame (invincibility skill) in Trickbade.

  • Weapon: Dagger
  • Job: Thief
  • Class: Explorer
  • Shared Cash Shop Inventory: Explorer Jobs
  • Legion Block: +Luk (10/20/40/80/100)
  • Link Skill: Thief's Cunning (+3-6% Damage upon debuffing enemies, 10 sec duration)
  • Primary Stat: Luk
  • Inner Ability: 20% Boss Damage

Rouge First Job Skill Build

Since you're going the route of Shadower, you only have enough skill points to max 5 of the 6 skills. You won't need Lucky Seven so leave that skill un-maxed.

  • Double Stab (+1), Flash Jump (+2)
  • Flash Jump (MAX)
  • Double Stab (10)
  • Haste (MAX)
  • Nimble Body (MAX)
  • Double Stab (MAX)
  • Dark Sight (MAX)
  • Lucky Seven (10)

Unfortunately, Double Stab is a single target attack. That means there's no mobbing in your early levels and so training to level 30 can be quite slow compared to other classes. However, you do have great mobility in Flash Jump and Haste skills, making it very fun to get around Maple World.

Skill Description & Overview

Icon Skill Description Type
Double Stab Double Stab Quickly stabs an enemy twice. Main Attack Skill
Haste Haste Temporarily increases Speed and Jump for all party members. Permanently increases maximum Speed. Buff
Nimble Body Nimble Body Permanently increases Luck. Passive Buff

You can still use the Flash Jump skill while Dark Sight is active. The cooldown when Dark Sight is deactivated is affected by damage dodged in proportion to your to Max HP. Press the skill key again to deactivate Dark Sight.

Transform Skill

Lucky Seven Lucky Seven Throws 2 throwing stars based on LUK, regardless of Claw Mastery. Main Attack Skill

Bandit Second Job Skill Build

As a Rouge, when you reach level 30 you can job advance into two different classes. If you want to become a Shadower, you'll need to choose Bandit as your second job advancement class.

  • Dagger Mastery (+3)
  • Dagger Booster (+6)
  • Savage Blow (MAX)
  • Dagger Mastery (MAX)
  • Physical Training (MAX)

  • Shield Mastery (MAX)
  • Dagger Booster (MAX)
  • Steal (MAX)
  • Mesoguard (MAX)

Savage Blow is your new mobbing skill that can hit up to 8 mobs at once. It doesn't have a wide hit-box area, so you will need to be moving around maps in order to train efficiently. Steal and Mesoguard arn't really utilized until you get to bossing, so you can max these last.

Chief Bandit Third Job Skill Build

Chief Bandit introduce one of your better mobbing skills that will provide very useful when you get to 5th job. Meso Explosion allows you to deal damage to mobs all around you, but that damage is quite low during the early levels. For that reason, you may find it useful to just keep using your second job skill Savage Blow + Shadow Partner.

  • Shadow Partner (MAX)
  • Pick Pocket (MAX)
  • Meso Explosion (MAX)
  • Dark Flare (MAX)
  • Midnight Carnival (MAX)
  • Advanced Dark Sight (MAX)
  • Venom (MAX)
  • Meso Mastery (MAX)
  • Phase Dash (MAX)
  • Into Darkness (MAX)
  • Enveloping Darkness (MAX)

Chief Bandit sits in a strange place. It's new attacking skill Midnight Carnival is a single-target attack that deals lots of lines of damage. This isn't really very useful when training as you want to be hitting as many mobs as possible with each attack. Pickpocket can be turned on so that all mobs drop meso coins and then combine that with meso explosion you'll start damaging other mobs all around you. Some prefer to use Shadow Partner + Savage Blow for mobbing.

Being attacked by enemies may automatically trigger Dark Sight, and attacking during Dark Sight deals increased damage.Dodging an attack that deals damage proportional to Max HP using the automatically-triggered Dark Sight will not trigger Dark Sight's cooldown (but Dark Sight will be deactivated). Shadower Hyper Skill Build

Hyper skills are available at level 140. You get Hyper Skill Points as you level towards 200, but not enough to max all the skills, so choose wisely. These skills mostly help increase the damage of your current skills.

  • Meso Explosion - Reinforce
  • Meso Explosion - Enhance
  • Boomerang Stab - Reinforce
  • Boomerang Stab - Spread
  • Boomerang Stab - Extra Strike
  • Flip The Coin
  • Shadow Viel
  • Epic Adventure

The hyper skills of Shadower are actually pretty good and you might have a hard time deciding what's best to use. You can boost your main bossing skill Assassinate, with extra damage, boss damage and ignore def. Or you can boost your training skills; you can remove the Boomerang Stab - Spread as you probably won't need to hit 10 enemies at once- adding Meso Explosion - Guardbreak might be useful for extra IED. You can reset Hyper Skills for mesos so if you make a mistake don't worry.

Each class gets their own skills to use, along with boosting nodes to increase the damage of existing skills. To obtain new skills, you open up items called Nodestones, which drop from every mob in Arcane River.
