MapleStory Hayato Skill Build Guide

June 12, 2024

Hayato is a MapleStory class that originated from the Japanese version of MapleStory. Wielding long Katana blades, Hayato slashes and dashes towards its enemies, making it a really fun and mobile class to play. Whilst Hayato's Link Skill isn't too useful, they do have a great Legion Grid bonus of Critical Damage, so the class is well worth leveling up for the bonus.

Hayato Overview

Hayato was release in March 2013 in patch 131 in GMS, a month after the release of the other Sengoku class Kanna. They use two types of weapons: the Katana as their main weapon and the Kodachi for the sub weapon. In terms of mechanics, Hayato has a cool skill that allows it to turn into a bossing or mobbing class. Quick Draw in the beginner tab of your skill window will allow you to change "stances", and only certain skills can be used, which you'll want to switch between when bossing or mobbing (normal training).

In terms of training Hayato, they are a really mobile and fun class to play. Their skills allow you to dash all over the map, hitting enemies at will and dealing some nice damage. It takes a bit of getting used to as there are quite a few skills to manage, but once you get your skill rotation down, you'll be singing Hayato's praises. The better you can manage your attacks, the more damage you can output as Hayato has a skill called Battoujutsu Advance that gives you stacks of damage buffs for using skills.

As a bossing class, Hayato is a decent entry. Whilst the class is not an original KMS class (it doesn't appear in the main version of MapleStory) it means the class doesn't get updated or tweaked very much. Most classes are getting improvements to their damage to scale with later harder bosses, but since Hayato is from JMS, you have to wait until they update the class. Hayato can use Hitokiri Strike as a 3-second invincible frame to help dodge one hit KO attacks, but Hayato also has many skills for dodging that can help dodge one-hit ko attacks.
