MapleStory Fire Poison Archmage Skill Build - Remastered Destiny Update

February 19, 2024

MapleStory Fire Poison Arch Mage is one of the three different explorer mages you can choose from. One of the original four jobs to be introduced into MapleStory, Fire Poison Arch Mages utilize many damage over time skills that make them an interesting class compared to most others in MapleStory. Whilst their mobbing can be lackluster, they have incredible high damage during late game, allowing you to one-hit mobs much earlier on compared to other classes.

Fire Poison Arch Mage Overview

Fire Poison Arch Mages generally use their damage over time skills whilst teleporting around large maps and one-hitting them to finish them off. When you get to Arcana and level 230, your skills will start getting closer to one-shoting making the class a very good mobber. Unfortunately, the early levels of up to 200 can be quite painful due to slow attack times, small hit boxes and generally lack-luster skills. Fifth job adds some great skills to make the class more viable including Poison Nova.

All Explorers got a major revamp in the Destiny V.233 Patch update, including Fire Poison Arch Mage!

As a bossing class, Fire Poison Arch Mages are considered the best of the mages. Their damage over time skills can get around damage reflect and canceling moves, allowing you to deal high-damage constantly. They don't have a single i-frame skill (to prevent death from one-hit ko moves), but Mages in general have great survivability with their teleport and magic guard moves.

Fifth job unlocks three new skills that aid in mobbing. Poison Nova and DoT Punisher both have short cooldowns that will make attacking large maps full of mobs very easy. Combined with your Poison Mist skills, it makes for some very fast training and leveling. Elemental Fury is a great short burst skill that also has a very short cooldown.

Explorer Magicians can job advance into either Bishop, Ice/Lightning Arch Mage or Fire/Poison Arch Mage.

  • Weapon: Staff & Wand
  • Job: Mage
  • Class: Explorer
  • Shared Cash Shop Inventory: Explorer Jobs

Magician First Job Skill Build

You can max all your skills in 1st job. All magicians should follow this skill build.

  • MP Booster (+1)
  • Energy Bolt (MAX)
  • Teleport (MAX)
  • MP Boost (MAX)
  • Magic Guard (MAX)
  • Magic Armor (MAX)

Your main attacking skill as a Magician is Energy Bolt. The energy bolt is a lot better than the pre-big bang version and can hit up to 4 enemies at once! You will want to max Teleport quite quickly as it allows for better mobility. Magic Guard is your most useful skill that you will be using even when you get to 5th job; it basically turns your MP into HP, allowing you to absorb massive amounts of damage. You can toggle this skill on/off.

MP Boost will increase your Attack Speed, so worth putting a point in it early on.
