Wind Archer is the ranged Cygnus Knights archer class in MapleStory that is powered by devastating wind attacks that make training a breeze. Wind Archer is one of the most popular Cygnus Knight classes due to their amazing mobbing skills throughout all five job advancements. They're also a decent bossing class and are easy to play.

Originally released in 2009, Wind Archer used to have a level cap of 120. They have since been revamped into full class that can hit max level, take on 5th job and stand on their own.

Wind Archer Overview

Like most Cygnus Knight classes, the theme for Wind Archer is really consistent amongst all the skills: Green. Wind Archer is a bowman type job, so you'll be using arrow consumables for most of your attacks (although there is a skill that prevents consumption). Wind Archer has gone through lots of class upgrades (with more to come) to make playing it a lot smoother as they do have a lot of buffs to manage. Apart from that, the class is fairly easy to manage and has plenty of good useful skills.

Training a Wind Archer will likely be one of the easier classes through levels 1-200. They have great mobbing skills, including Trifling Wind which can keep mobs you've missed under control. For the most part. you'll only be using one or two attacking skills and by the time you get to 5th job you'll be able to wipe entire maps out with epic V-matrix skills. If you were looking for a first-class to play, Wind Archer is perfect for it's simple mechanics and decent damage.

Bossing wise, Wind Archer is very consistent. There are no janky-skills you need to manage or combo-skill gameplay to boost damage; you simply buff up and attack. Their damage might not be at the top range of the DPS charts, but they are more than capable of taking on the end-game bosses in MapleStory with a decent amount of funding. What Wind Archer is great for is their survivability, with lots of skills that can help them tank 1-hit KO skills, dodge boss attacks and great mobility.

Wind Archer First Job Skill Build

You can max all of your skills in first job. Follow this build:

  • Breeze Arrow (MAX)
  • Whispers Of The Wind (MAX)
  • Storm Elemental (MAX)
  • Wind Walk (MAX)

Your main attacking skill is Breeze Arrow, which can hit up to five enemies at once. This is an amazing first job mobbing skill so you'll likely breeze through the early levels. You get two attack buffs with Storm Elemental and Whispers of the Wind. Wind Walk allows you to teleport through enemies without getting hit.

Skill Description & Overview

Icon Skill Description Type
Breeze Arrow Breeze Arrow Fires off a wind-infused arrow. Main Attack Skill
Wind Walk Wind Walk Your arrows walk on the wind, flying straight through any monsters they touch. Teleport Skill

Wind Archer Second Job Skill Build

You can max all of your skills in second job. Follow this build:

  • Gust Shot (1), Bow Mastery (+2)
  • Bow Mastery (5)
  • Bow Booster (MAX)
  • Gust Shot (MAX)
  • Bow Mastery (MAX)
  • Sylvan Aid (MAX)
  • Trifling Wind I (MAX)
  • Physical Training (MAX)
  • Fairy Spiral (MAX)

Whilst Fairy Spiral is more useful in 5th job, Gust Shot is the proven winner here as it's damage is a lot higher than Fairy Spiral. You'll want to max your Bow Booster as early as possible for that quick attack speed. Trifling Wind I is a toggle skill that'll fire extra arrows to surrounding mobs when you attack but in second job it's pretty weak and useless. Sylvan Aid will make you not consume arrows and the rest are passive buffs.

Skill Description & Overview

Icon Skill Description Type
Gust Shot Gust Shot Fire off a speeding arrow in a straight line. Main Attack Skill
Trifling Wind I Trifling Wind I Summons the Spirit of Wind to confuse nearby enemies. Toggle Skill

You can max all of your skills in third job. Follow this build:

  • Sentient Arrow (MAX)
  • Albatross (MAX)
  • Trifling Wind II (MAX)
  • Emerald Flower (MAX)
  • Second Wind (MAX)
  • Featherweight (MAX)
  • Pinpoint Pierce (MAX)

Your new main attack skill is Sentient Arrow. This skill allows you to stand in one place and then target mobs from platforms around you. The range on the skill isn't huge, but it's decent enough for most maps around 3rd job level. Your Trifling Wind gets upgraded and you get a new buff to manage called Albatross, which also increases attack speed.

  • Sharp Eyes (MAX)
  • Albatross MAX (MAX)
  • Touch Of The Wind (MAX)
  • Emerald Dust (MAX)
  • Song of Heaven (MAX)
  • Call Of Cygnus (MAX)

In fourth job, Spiraling Vortex becomes your new mobbing skill. You can mob with Song of Heaven, but this skill is better for bossing than mobbing in most cases. You get to upgrade your Trifling Wind and it now starts to feel very significant. Sharp Eyes and Call Of Cygnus are two new buffs you have to manage and your Albatross skill gets a new upgrade. Song of Heaven and Emerald Dust are useful for bossing and the rest are passive.
