MapleStory Kanna Skill Build Guide

February 19, 2024

Kanna is perhaps the most popular class in MapleStory and is famed for their spawn-enhancer skill Kishin Shoukan. Kanna, originally from Japanese MapleStory, has great map control with its many skills, summons and full-map attacks. She is considered the best farming class as they can increase the amount of mobs on maps in MapleStory, similar to the item Wild Totem.

Kanna Overview

Kanna came to Global MapleStory in patch V.129 Mark Of Honor: Kanna and is part of the Sengoku class line. Kanna is a magician, utilising INT equipments and magic attack. As a class, Kanna has everything. She has great mobility with her Mana Warp skill; giant summons to place around maps to help with clearing out mobs and really good damage against both bosses and normal monsters. Kanna doesn't use MP, instead she uses Mana, which is replenished overtime.

Training a Kanna is made really easy with the skill Kishin Shoukan. This controversial skill allows Kanna to increase the amount of mobs on a map for 30 seconds (and indefinitely once they hit 4th job), which allows them to gain more EXP. Kanna is the only class with a spawn enhancer skill; the only other way to increase mob spawn count is by using a Wild Totem or Frenzy Totem. Many players will make what is known as Kanna-mules to increase the spawn of mobs on maps for their main character.

UPDATE: Kanna's Kishin Shoukan skill no longer increases spawn rate. As of version 233, Kishin Shoukan now gives a +10% EXP buff instead.

As a bossing class, Kanna is one of the best to have in your party. They have great 5th job skills like Spirits Domain for increasing damage of all party members and they have the longest Bind skill in the whole of MapleStory (15 seconds!). They can equip two fans (one for their Haku summon) to enjoy the benefits of double magic attack. The only thing Kanna lacks is an iframe to dodge 1-hit KO attacks.

  • Weapon: Fan
  • Job: Mage
  • Class: Sengoku
  • Shared Cash Shop Inventory: Kanna, Hayato
  • Legion Block: Boss Damage (1%/2%/3%/5%/6%)
  • Link Skill: Elementalism (+10% Damage)
  • Primary Stat: Int
  • Inner Ability: 1+ Attack Speed / 20% Boss Damage

Kanna First Job Skill Build

You can max all of your skills in first job. Follow this build:

  • Shikigami Haunting (+1), Mana Warp (+1), Ghost Yaksha Trainee (+1)
  • Shikigami Haunting (MAX)
  • Mana Warp (MAX)
  • Ghost Yaksha Trainee (MAX)
  • Spiritual Enlightenment (MAX)

Kanna has a great first job compared to most classes. You get your own summon called Ghost Yaksha Trainee (this will get upgraded each job advancement) and Shikigami Haunting is a decent mobbing skill. You'll most likely fly through these first few levels; Mana Warp is your teleport skill- pressing it without a direction key will teleport you to Mana Veins (they appear randomly as you defeat mobs).

Skill Description & Overview

Ghost Yaksha Trainee Ghost Yaksha Trainee Summon the Ghost Yaksha Trainee and command it to attack and push back enemies. Summon

Kanna Second Job Skill Build

You can max all of your skills in second job. Follow this build:

  • Shikigami Haunting 2 (+1) Radiant Peacock (+2)
  • Radiant Peacock (6)
  • Haku Reborn (MAX)
  • Shikigami Haunting 2 (MAX)
  • Ghost Yaksha Brother (MAX)
  • Exorcist's Charm (MAX)
  • Radiant Peacock (MAX)
  • Soul Bomb (MAX)
  • Shikigami Charm (MAX)

In second job your Shikigami Haunting skill is upgraded to be a better mobbing skill. You also get an Attack Speed booster in Radiant Peacock, so max this early on. Haku Reborn is a summon that doesn't attack mobs- instead it puts buffs on you. You can also equip a second Fan weapon to Haku to boost your damage. Exorcist Charm is a great mobbing skill but it's damage is relatively low in the early levels.

  • Shikigami Haunting 3 (+1), Ghost Yaksha Lieutenant (+1), Spirit Path (+1)
  • Kishin Shoukan (MAX)
  • Shikigami Haunting 3 (MAX)
  • Ghost Yaksha Lieutenant (MAX)
  • Spirit Path (MAX)
  • Tengu Strike (MAX)
  • Lifeblood Ritual (MAX)
  • Mana Balance (MAX)
  • Yosuzume (MAX)
  • Blossom Barrier (MAX)

Third job for Kanna is in a bit of strange position. You do get access to the spawn enhancer skill Kishin Shoukan, but it only lasts for 30 seconds and has a 60 second cooldown. It's only when you hit 4th job will the skill have an unlimited duration. You also get a really good secondary attack skill called Tengu Strike- you may prefer to max this first instead of Shikigami Haunting 3 depending on the maps you're training on. Blossom Barrier is only really good during bossing.

Kanna Fourth Job Skill Build

You can max all of your skills in fourth job. Follow this build:

  • Shikigami Haunting 4 (+1), Haku Perfected (+1), Kasen (+1)

  • Shikigami Haunting 4 (10)

  • Vanquisher's Charm (MAX)
  • Orochi Unbound (MAX)
  • Falling Sakura (MAX)
  • Akatsuki Warrior (MAX)
  • Binding Tempest (MAX)
  • Hero's Will (MAX)

Shikigami Haunting 4 is your main attacking skill. Vanquisher's Charm is meant to be for single-target bossing, but most people will still use Shikigami Haunting 4 due to not using Mana. You want to max Nightghost Guide first as this will allow you to keep Kishin Shoukan up for as long as you are attacking mobs. You get the final version of your summon, Ghost Yaksha Boss, which is one of the best summons in the game. Nine-tailed fury attacks all mobs on the map- but it also gives a 40-second buff that increases damage too, so you'll want to add it into your rotation. Binding Tempest is a 10 second bind- you'll want to use the 15 second bind Hyper Skill instead: Veritable Pandemonium.
