MapleStory Leveling Guide - Training Maps

May 6, 2022

This leveling guide will show you the fastest way to reach level 300 in MapleStory in both Reboot and Regular Servers. Leveling up in MapleStory is one of the main aspects of this MMORPG and the grind is real if you don't know what the best maps are for training.

Here we'll give you all the tips and tricks of leveling up fast in MapleStory so you can storm through the levels like a pro Mapler.

This guide is for both Regular Servers and Reboot Servers. The maps vary slightly, but for the most part the best maps work for both worlds.

In Reboot World, monsters have more HP compared to Regular Servers (but they give more EXP!) so the levels at which you train on certain maps are slightly higher.

If you're looking for a simple guide on the best maps to train in MapleStory, use our summary list below to get an idea of the best maps to grind on. If you want a more detailed guide, use the leveling guide further down below with more tips and tricks for fast leveling.

If you find the monsters are too strong for your level at these maps, you can always stay at your current location until you gain more power. If you have access to Monster Park potions this can help speed up training significantly.

Tips And Tricks For Fast Leveling In MapleStory

The first character you make in MapleStory is probably going to train a lot slower compared to your 5th or 6th. That's because you gain lots of bonuses the more characters you make, get access to stat-boosting potions and more EXP coupons to use. Don't fret if you can't take advantage of the methods below, but if you can, they are likely to boost your training speed significantly.

Monster Park Potions

Monster Park Shop

Monster Park becomes available at Level 105. It's a small area of the game that provides some of the most useful potions that you'll be using all the way until end-game. All the potions can be transferred to other characters via trading or storage, so you can use them on newly created characters too.

You can enter Monster Park 7 times a day (2 free goes and then you have to buy passes for the other 5 entries. In Reboot World, these passes cost Meso and in Regular Servers they cost NX or Maple Reward Points).

Each time you complete a course in Monster Park you get coins to buy these potions. These potions are:

  • Extreme Red Potion - Costs: 5 Coins - +30 Weapon Attack for 30 minutes
  • Extreme Blue Potion - Costs: 5 Coins - +30 Magic Attack for 30 minutes
  • Extreme Green Potion - Costs: 5 Coins - +1 Attack Speed for 30 minutes
  • Extreme Gold Potion - Costs: 10 Coins - +10% EXP for 30 minutes

The Green Potion and Gold Potion are extremely useful for training and you should try to take either a Red or Blue depending on your MapleStory Class.

EXP Coupons

EXP Coupons are rewards you get in MapleStory that increase the amount of EXP you earn when fighting monsters in MapleStory. Needless to say, these are super useful when training your characters. EXP Coupons can be tough to get hold of, but here are some of the methods for obtaining them:

  • Daily Gift
  • Legion Coin Shop
  • Cashshop (Regular Servers only)
  • MVP Weekly Rewards (Rewarded based on your Cashshop MVP status. Available for both Reboot and Regular Servers)
  • Events
  • Monster Park Sunday Box Reward

Hyper Teleport Rock

Hyper Teleport RockHyper Teleport RockHyper Teleport Rock

Training in MapleStory requires you to get around it's expansive world and that can be quite slow without a Hyper Teleport Rock. This item can be purchased in the Cashshop on both Reboot Worlds and Regular Worlds. It allows you directly teleport to any map in MapleStory instantly.

A Hyper Teleport Rock expires after a period of time. In Reboot Worlds, you can purchase Hyper Teleport Rocks with Mesos in the Cashshop with a max duration of 7 days.

In Regular Worlds, you can purchase Hyper Teleport Rocks for NX in the Cashshop. They can have a max duration of up to 30 days.

Link Skills

Link Skill Eleven BlessingRune PersistanceCombo Kill BlessingLink Skill

If you're training your first MapleStory character you won't have any Link Skills to use. Link Skills are skills you can give to other characters on the same account, oftentimes these are passive boosts to your damage and stats allowing you to train a lot faster.

You get a link skill from a character once they reach level 70, level 120 and level 210.

You can have up to 12 Link skills on a single character at a time. Check out our Link Skill guide for a detailed look at all the Link Skills in MapleStory. Some of the most useful ones for training are:

  • Elven Blessing (+20% EXP at level 3)
  • Rune Persistence (+70% Rune Duration at Level 3)
  • Combo Kill Blessing (+900% EXP from Combo Orbs at Level 3)

Legion Power

Legion

As well as having Link Skills, you also have a shared Legion Grid between all your characters that offer many stat bonuses and damage boosts. Each character you train can be added to your Legion Grid to give you more stats.

Check out our Legion Guide for a detailed look at how MapleStory's Legion system works.

Oh, and don't forget: You can use your Legion Coins to buy EXP coupons and Leveling-UP potions!

Kishin Shoukan / Totems / Spawn Boosters

One way to speed up leveling is to increase the spawn rate of monsters on a map. Each map in MapleStory has a specific amount of mobs that can spawn at a time, as well as a time delay in how often they respawn.

With Spawn Boosters such as Wild Totems, you can increase the number of monsters on a map and increase how quickly they respawn.

Wild Totems can be purchased in the Cashshop for 2,000 Reward Points.

If you have a Kanna on a separate account, you can make use of their Kishin Shoukan skill.

Runes

Runes appear in Maps at around Level 30 (or where the monster is level 30). These Runes, when activated, give you a temporary EXP Buff for about 2-3 minutes and some kind of damage boost/effect depending on what type of Rune was activated.

Runes can only be used every 15 minutes and can be activated by standing on them and entering a simple arrow key captcha. If you have the Evan Link Skill (Rune Persistence) the Rune will last for a lot longer.

Burning Maps

A feature of MapleStory is Burning Maps, which adds a EXP Buff to monsters on special maps that have the Burning Effect. The EXP on these maps starts at +100% extra, and then decreases by 10% every hour that a player trains on them. These EXP increases back up to 100% when players don't use the maps.

Burning Maps are encouraging players to find maps to train on outside of the popular maps. Usually the maps listed in training guides are always full and so the burning effect are usually always either 0% or low. You can channel surf the maps to try and find a burning map, but this can waste valuable training time.

Less populated servers will have more burning maps than super popular worlds like NA Reboot.

MapleStory Leveling Guide

This guide is split into two sections. First, the early game of MapleStory is considered the levels between 1 and 200. The real fun starts between level 200 and level 300, where you'll start powering up your characters to take on the toughest bosses in MapleStory.

Levels 1-200 are still very fun. There is a lot of content you can play through if you hate grinding or just want a break, and this leveling guide will go into all the alternative ways you can level up in MapleStory.

Level 1-10 - Tutorial

The beginning of every MapleStory adventure is a short tutorial for your class. Usually, it introduces the story of that character, so early quests to complete and getting you used to how MapleStory controls work.

Soak it all in, as the grind is about to begin!

Level 10-20 - Golem's Temple: Golem's Temple 3

Golem Temple 3Flaming Mixed Golem

Location: Henesys

Mob: Flaming Mixed Golem

Golem's Temple is a small map hidden in Henesys. There are actually several different Golem maps to train on here, but the best one is Golem's Temple 3 as it contains the mob Flaming Mixed Golem. At level 10 you'll struggling to one-shot them unless you have lots of buffs, but by the time you get those first few levels under your belt you should fly through these levels.

Both Regular and Reboot players can stay here until Level 20. In Regular Servers, you may have a bit more damage and can leave this place to go directly to Garbage Dump: Shaded Dump Site.

Level 20-30 - North Forest: Green Tree Trunk

North Forest: Green Tree TrunkCurse Eye

Location: Ellina

Mob: Curse Eye

Reboot Players should head to the Green Tree Trunk in Ellina around level 20. This map has great spawn with a Totem or Kishin Spawn Booster.

You can also use the map North Forest: Giant Tree which has decent spawn too, although it's a lot bigger which can slow down leveling.

Regular server players can also use this map, but they are better off going to Garbage Dump map instead.

Level 20-43 - Garbage Dump: Shaded Dump Site

Shaded Dump SiteDumpy Hoodlum

Location: Savage Terminal

Mob: Dumpy Hoodlum

Reboot Players should only head here after Level 30.

This area is a great leveling up spot for MapleStory Players. It has up to 22 Dumpy Hoodlum mobs spawn and is one of the first maps you'll start seeing Runes appear to give you that increased EXP boost.

At level 30 you should start getting Attack Speed Skills to help take out enemies faster and increase your leveling speed. You'll want to stay here until around level 40 if you're on Regular Server and Reboot Players should aim for around level 43-45.

Level 45-50 - Abandoned Offices: Mr. Hazard's Lair 2

Hazard's Rotten CronyAbandoned Offices: Mr. Hazard's Lair 2Hazard's Mean Crony

Location: Savage Terminal

Mob: Hazard's Rotten Crony, Harzard's Mean Crony

Reboot Players should head to this map after they find Garage Dump: Shaded Dump Site getting a little slow. There are lots of mobs in this map also, and despite it being a very platform-heavy map, a good circular rotation will see you speeding through these levels.

Level 40-50 - Burnt Land: Wild Boar Land

Terrified Wild BoarWild Boar LandWild Boar

Location: Perion

Mob: Wild Boar, Terrified Wild Boar

In Reboot, you'll want to come to this map at around level 50 instead and stay until Level 60 as these WIld Boars have a lot of HP. Regular Server players will find them a lot easier.

The spawn of Wild Boars is amazing in this map and there are several hidden teleports in this map to help you navigate it. By now you should be getting into the grove of your second job and hopefully have better mobbing skills to deal with the great spawn here.

Level 30-60 - Theme Dungeon Alternatives

Gold Beach

At level 30, you can take on a number of theme dungeons that give lots of EXP. Instead of grinding lots of monsters, Theme Dungeons offer a quest-based progression system that will net you around 10-15 levels by completing them.

Theme Dungeons scale with your level, so you can take them on at any level between 30 and 60. The max level the monsters scale to is Level 60.

There are four Theme Dungeons:

  • Ellinel Fairy Academy
  • Gold Beach
  • Riena Strait
  • Elodin

You can take these on by using the Quest Light bulb icon and look for the Theme Dungeon name.

Level 50-80 - Swamp: Silent Swamp

Silent SwampCopper Drake

Location: Sleepywood

Mob: Copper Drake

One of the most popular maps in the whole of MapleStory is the Silent Swamp map that is often referred to as "Drakes". This map is great in both Regular Servers and Reboot.

You'll want to go Swamp: Silent Swamp at level 60 in Reboot.

The map is great as it contains four small platforms that you just keep jumping down and wiping out the mobs. There is a hidden portal at the bottom of the map that will take you back to the top.

Level 70-80 - Orbis: Stairway To The Sky I

LionerStairway To The Sky IGrupin

Cellion

Location: Orbis

Mob: Lioner, Grupin, Cellion

An alternative to staying at Drakes until level 80 is Orbis: Stairway To The Sky I. This map has amazing spawn and works very much like the Silent Swamp with this vertical platforms you jump down from.

Level 80-90 - Sunset Road: The Desert Of Serenity

Dark Sand DwarfThe Desert Of SerenitySand Rat

Location: Ariant

Mob: Sand Rat, Dark Sand Dwarf

At level 80 you'll want to head to Ariant and train in the map The Desert Of Serenity.

This map is completely flat, small and very easy to train in. In Reboot Worlds, the mobs might have too much HP for the early levels in 80, so feel free to stay back at Drakes for a bit longer.

You can also try this alternative map: Sunset Road: Sahel 2

For Reboot Players, you might want to stay here until Level 100 and head straight to Zakum.

Level 90 - 100 - Alcadno Research Institute: Lab - Area C-1

Lab Area C-1Roid

Location: Magatia

Mob: Roid

Another flat horizontal map is Lab Area C-1 at Magatia (near Ariant). All you have to do on this map is move side-to-side and mob those monsters. The spawn can be a little slow if you don't have any spawn enhancers though.

To get to the Lab Area you need to head to the house on the right side of Magatia.

Level 95-105 - Zakum

Zakum

Location: El Nath

Mob: Zakum

In Regular Servers you can take on Zakum at Level 95 and Reboot at around Level 100. The boss is super easy and can give around 5 levels for taking him out. You can also take a Rune buff, a 2x EXP Coupon and other EXP modifiers to really give yourself an EXP Boost.

You can fight Zakum once per day. Just use the Party Tab and select Bosses to Teleport directly to Zakum. No prequest needed!

Level 95-105 - Leafre: West Leafre Forest

West Leafre ForestRash

Location: Leafre

Mob: Rash

If you didn't manage to get many levels from Zakum (or you died!) you can train at the first map to your left of Leafre. This map has three platforms with great spawn that is easy to mob and get some early levels in.

Level 105 - 120 - Ludibrium: Toy Factory <Apparatus Room>

Master RoboToy Factory Apparatus RoomRobo

Location: Ludibrium

Mob: Robo, Master Robo

Reboot Players will want to head here at around level 110.

This map features lots of Robots for you to destroy; it has three platforms and by now you should be getting deep into your fourth job skills, hopefully they have some good mobbing skills! Stay here until around 120 in regular servers and level 125 in Reboot.

Level 120 - 135 - Korean Folk Town: Black Mountain Entrance

Black Mountain EntranceMoon Bunny

Location: Korean Folk Town

Mob: Moon Bunny

This popular map spawns a mob known as Moon Bunnies. They also drop the valuable level 140 equips known as the Pensalir Set. These equips are some of the first early gear you'll acquire and can be even net you some decent meso if they have a good flame stats.

There is also a quest you can take in the same map that just requires you to hunt down a 120 Moon Bunnies. It will give an easy level!

Level 120 - 140 - Pianus

Pianus

Location: Aqua Road

Mob: Pianus

Pianus is a mini-boss that spawns in the caves at Aqua Road. More specifically, you can find this boss by going to the map Aqua Road: The Grave of a Wrecked Ship and finding a hidden portal on your right (it's a cave!).

Pianus can spawn from both sides of the map; killing it gives decent amount of EXP. The only issue is that this boss can be killed by other players, so you're not guaranteed to find it spawned (as someone else might have cleared them all up).

You can change channel and keep killing them; it's a nice way to get a dozen or so levels instead of grinding.

Level 135-145 - Korean Folk Town: Goblin House

Goblin HouseYellow King Goblin

Location: Korean Folk Town

Mob: Yellow King Goblin

After Moon Bunnies, head to the further map in Korean Folk Town to find the Goblin House. This small map has three levels on mobs; some classes can sit in the middle of the map and hit all three levels at once so they don't even have to move when training here.

Reboot players will probably stay here a bit longer than Regular Server players as the HP of mobs will start to skyrocket.

Level 140 - 155 - Kerning Tower: 2F Cafe <4>

Grape Jelly Juice2f Cafe 4Enraged Espresso Machine

Location: Kerning Tower

Mob: Enraged Espresso Machine, Grape Jelly Juice

Kerning Tower is your next destination that allows you to stay there up until around level 170 if you like to complete the quests. It's a Theme Dungeon with a quest-line that will take you through all the different mob levels.

If you just want to grind though, the best map is Kerning Tower: 2F Cafe <4>. This map does require you to have Starforce on your equips of up to 80 in order to hit 100% of your normal damage. If you don't have enough Starforce, you can go to 2F Cafe <3> instead.

Reboot players can stay here up until 170 or so if they find the grind easier than switching to the next map below.

Level 155-170 - Stone Colossus Exploration Site: Colossus West Road 2

MantisColossus West Road 2Blood Mantis

Location: Stone Colossus

Mob: Mantis, Blood Mantis

This map is very fun to train in compared to Kerning Tower and all its platforms. You have two mobs spawn here: Mantis and Blood Mantis.

Reboot Players can stay here until 170 before heading to Omega Sector.

Level 170-190 - Inside The Mothership: Corridor H01

Corridor H01Grey Commuter Saucer

Location: Omega Sector

Mob: Grey Commuter Saucer

Omega Sector was revamped back in 2017 and now contains a new area called the Mothership. Here is one of the best maps to train at until 190 on Reboot Servers (180 on Regular Servers).

Corridor H01 requires starforce of 140. If you can't hit the starforce, then head to Corridor 202 instead.

Level 190-200 - Twilight Perion: Forsaken Excavation Site 2

Forsaken Excavation Site 3Sinister Rocky Mask

Location: Twilight Perion

Mob: Sinister Rocky Mask

And the last map you'll want to be training on before reaching Level 200 is Twilight Perion: Forsaken Excavation Site 2.

This map has great spawn with a simple training rotation; if you have any summons you can place them on the top platforms and just mob the bottom level for easy training.

Level 105 - 200 - Monster Park

You can enter Monster Park up 7 times a day (2 for free, 5 require an entry ticket that costs Mesos in Reboot World and NX in Regular Servers).

You can easily gain a few levels from Monster Park as each area has a different level range all the way up to level 230.

Plus, you can use any of the Monster Park Coins you receive to buy Monster Park Potions for training too!

Level 200 - 210 - Cave of Repose: Below the Cave

Below The CaveTranquil Erda

Location: Vanishing Journey

Mob: Tranquil Erda

At Level 200 and advancing to fifth job, you get access to Arcane River. Each area is level restricted, and the first area is called Vanishing Journey. You have to first complete a pre-quest for 5th job, which takes you throughout Vanishing Journey maps.

The best map for training is Cave of Repose: Below The Cave. However, you do need Arcane Force of 60 in order to hit 100% damage, and 90 Arcane Force to hit 150% damage.

You can get some Arcane Force from Hyper Stats that can get you up to the 60 mark. You can also get 20 Symbols by completing the Reverse City questline at Level 205.

Level 205 - 210 - Reverse City - Hidden Research Train

Strong Seeker T-Drone Model BHidden Research TrainStrong Seeker T-Drone Model A

Location: Reverse City

Mob: Strong Seeker T-Drone Model A, Strong Seeker T-Drone Model B

Reverse City is a stop-gap between Vanishing Journey and Chu Chu Island. You can find some really nice maps to train in from levels 205 to 210, especially if you find Vanishing Journey to be crowded.

Reverse City questline takes around 30-60 minutes to complete and rewards you with 20 Arcane Symbols to use, which is pretty good for new players starting out.

Level 210 - 220 - Slurpy Forest: Slurpy Forest Depths

Ripe WolfruitSlurpy Forest DepthsAngry Flyon

Location: Chu-Chu Island

Mob: Ripe Wolfruit, Angry Flyon

Once you arrive on Chu Chu Island, the best map to train in is Slurpy Forest Depths. This map has great spawn, is super compact and small and offers hidden portals to get you around the map faster.

Some players like this map so much, they even train here until 225!

Level 220 - 225 - Lachelein Ballroom: Revelation Place 3

Insane Masquerade CitizenRevelation Place 3Angry Masquerade Citizen

Location: Lachelein

Mob: Insane Masquerade Citizen, Angry Masquerade Citizen

Revelation Place 3 is one of the best maps in the whole of Lachelein to train on. It does have some awkward platforms, but it has great spawn and by now your character should be getting deep into their 5th job so that they can mob really well.

It does require Arcane Force of 210 to hit 100% damage. If you're maxing out your Arcane Dailies and still find yourself with low AF, you might want to consider staying at Slurpy Forest Depths for a few more levels.

Level 225 - 240 - Arcana: Cavern Lower Path

Cavern Lower PathBefuddled Spirit

Location: Arcana

Mob: Befuddled Spirit

At Level 225, you gain access to Arcana, which includes some of the best maps to train on up until 250.

However, at level 225 you might have really low Arcane Force and so hitting the mobs might be a little tricky at first. Make sure you do your Arcane Dailies as often as possible and get to the magic number of 360 Arcane Force to hit 100% damage against the mobs.

CLP is one of the easiest maps to train on with high mob density and a nice small compact map to move around.

Level 240 - 250 - Arcana: The Deepest Part of the Cavern - Upper Path

Anguished SpiritThe Deepest Part Of The Cavern - Upper PathMournful Spirit

Location: Arcana

Mob: Anguished Spirit, Mournful Spirit

Staying in Arcana up to 250 can feel boring, especially as by now you have unlocked Morass, Sellas and Esfera. However, Arcana still offers some of the best maps for training as the spawn is ridiculously good and the maps are very small, which is great when you have to grind for five hours to get just one level.

The Deepest Part Of The Cavern - Upper Path is one of the better places to mob in towards the end of 240.

Level 240 - 250 - Sellas: Star-Swallowing Sea 1

Star-Swallowing Sea 1Lilli Borea

Location: Sellas

Mob: Lilli Borea

If you like crazy bright blue colors then Sellas might be the next place you go to train. It has lots of great maps with high amounts of mobs, but with a few more platforms than Arcana. If your class has great mobility and map control, then you might get better rates at Sellas.

Sellas unlocks at Level 240.

Level 250-255 - Moonbridge: Void Current 3

Crushing GlareVoic Current 3Burt Glare

Location: Moonbridge

Mob: Crushing Glare, Burst Glare

Congratulations on reaching level 250. This old level cap is still quite an accomplishment and you should be proud- but the next target of 275 and then 300 are just ahead of you!

Moonbridge unlocks at levels 245 and one of the better maps to train at is Void Current 3. They also drop Familiar Cards, so this is a great chance for Reboot players to finally start farming a decent Familiar.

You'll need 730 Arcane Force to hit 100% of your damage here.

Level 255-275 - Limina: End of the World 1-5

ForberionLimina - End Of The World 1-5Ascendion

Location: Limina

Mob: Forberion, Ascendion

Your journey to 275 is in sight with Limina unlocked at level 255. There are plenty of maps in this area that are good to train on, but this is one of the most popular with its great spawn and small map size.

Level 260-275 - Cernium: Royal Library Section 1

Royal Library Section 1Wandering Scholar Ghost

Location: Cernium

Mob: Wandering Scholar Ghost

Cernium is a new area released in line with the Level Cap raising to level 300.

This new area requires a new power stat called Sacred Power, which is similar to Arcane Force and requires doing dailies to increase it.

Royal Library Section 1 requires 50 Sacred Power

Level 260-275 - Cernium: Cernium Eastern City Ramparts 3

Eastern City Ramparts 3Fire Spirit

Location: Cernium

Mob: Fire Spirit

Requires 50 Sacred Power to hit 100%.

For lvl 150 ~ 165 check out Stone Collossus theme dungeon instead of Kerning. It has tight maps with great spawn rates and very little busywork hopping between platforms. A class that is not particularly great at vertical clearing will have a great time here, unlike kerning where you gotta manage ridicilous amounts of platforms per map.
