MapleStory Worlds: Old-School Servers

August 11, 2025

MapleStory Worlds is a platform that allows developers to create their own games, including old-school MapleStory servers that include content before the big bang update.

We've curated a list of all the old-school MapleStory servers currently in development on the MapleStory Worlds Platform and those that are currently playable.

MapleStory Worlds was released for GMS in October 2024 and so developers have had plenty of time to now build out working versions of old-school servers.

An official old-school version of MapleStory is being worked on called MapleStory Classic.

What is MapleStory Worlds?

MapleStory Worlds is an official platform by Nexon that allows anyone to create their own game using MapleStory assets for free. The platform has been out in South Korea since 2022 and was added to the west in 2024. It is available on PC and Mobile.

Many developers are currently working on their own version of an old-school version of MapleStory, before they added elements like Potential Cubes, Legion and the 40+ MapleStory Classes they currently have.

Developers earn money through sales of micro-transactions that relate to their game. For example, if they have their own Cash Shop, players can purchase items using money and the developer gets a % share of the sales.

There are over 30,000,000 MapleStory assets for developers to work with, and they can create any type of game they like! We've seen some excellent projects be released, such as Forest Of Endurance jump game and Maple Auto Battler.

List of old-school servers

Artale

Artale

Status: Released

Game Link: Artale

Artale was one of the first old-school servers released for GMS. It had been under-development in South Korea and the team were able to quickly port it over to GMS in a couple of weeks.

The game features the first five explorer classes, 4th job and areas such as Leafre, Aqua Road and Ludibrium.

It also features custom mechanics like Auto-loot, Thief throwing stars being made unlimited use, Auction House and several class rebalancing mechanics.

Old-School Maple

Old-School Maple

Status: Open-Beta

Game Link: Old School Maple

Old-School Maple has been under development since the release of MapleStory Worlds for GMS. It aims to be a faithful recreation of the old-school game and is one of the best servers to play in terms of an authentic experience.

The game is currently in an open-beta, allowing anyone to join and test out the world. It has currently released up to 3rd Job, with areas such as Ludibrium, New Leaf City and Orbis all available for players.

They also have Pirates available to play!

Chronostory

Chronostory

Status: Closed-Beta

Game Link: ChronoStory

Chronostory is another old-school server currently in development. They've only had a few public betas but many of them have featured a smooth quality experience that feels like you're playing the original MapleStory Game.

It currently is working on second-job skills and is working towards a new beta to be released later this year. You can join their Discord for more information on it's development and when it will be released.

Chronostory also has several custom features added, such as a Storage Box sharing, class rebalancing skills, mobile UI and more.

Nextale

Nextale

Status: Open-Alpha

Game Link: Nextale

Nextale is a custom MapleStory server that aims to add new features, maps, monsters, skills but keeping the old-school MapleStory experience at it's core.

The game is currently in open-alpha, and anyone can join through the MapleStory Worlds platform to try it out. The game has content added up to Ludibrium, including 3rd job skills for most classes.

It has unique features like it's own Crafting System, custom skills, mini-dungeons, pets and it's own Cash Shop.

Unknown Chillen Server

Status: Closed-Alpha

One MapleStory Worlds server that players have been keeping an eye open for is one being developed by a user named Chillen.

They have been posting progress videos on their YouTube channel, and it aims to be a faithful recreation of the old-school MapleStory game.

Not much is known about the status of this server, or the name of it, but we'll update this article when we get more info.

Southperry

Southperry

Status: Early-Access

Game Link: Southperry

Southperry is a very unique server that combines Rogue-lite game mechanics with MapleStory's old-school content.

Your character can find new skills dropped from monsters and bosses, allowing you to equip a unique arsenal of classic skills rather than follow a set upgrade path.

It is one of the most popular MapleStory Worlds games and has content like Zakum, auto-loot, unique equipment system and more.

Mapleland

Mapleland

Status: Open (South Korea only)

Game Link: Mapleland

One of the best MapleStory Worlds servers is called MapleLand, which unfortunately is only open to users in South Korea. It was one of the first servers developed for the platform, with hundreds of thousands of users playing.

It is a faithful 1-to-1 recreation of the game with slight adjustments to skills and mobs. It originally launched with just second-job and Victoria Island, before following the old-school MapleStory update path of releasing content. It now has 4th job and the Horntail boss!

Mapleland did mention they were exploring the possibility of releasing for GMS, but there hasn't been any update since then.

Zakum prequest jump quests were a rite of passage; hoping some of these servers include the full chain and classic Zhelm stat ranges.

Does this list note whether the servers support KPQ/LPQ and how party matching works in MapleStory Worlds, or is it all manual via chat?

I believe Artale has KPQ and LPQ. I *think* old-school has KPQ.

Mapleland has both KPQ and LPQ.

Could you add each world's EXP and drop rate settings? The grind pacing is a big part of the nostalgia curve.

Maybe when they become more established as many of these servers are in beta, so the rates could change.
