Last Week, a new MapleStory Classic playtest was conducted at GMS Nexon HQ where a select few got the opportunity to test out the upcoming remake of MapleStory Classic.
A few screenshots and a new video were shared on the official MapleStory Facebook page, and it seems this test was based around testing Kerning Party Quest.
KPQ was one of the ways lower-leveled MapleStory players leveled up fast during Level 20-30 and it also offered unique gear and other rewards like Scrolls for participating. It was one of the most popular spots in old-school MapleStory and an area that many Maplers fondly reminisce over.
Another sneak peak was someone playing as a Level 50 Cleric, with several second-job skills assigned to player's hotkeys. This is the first time we are seeing Second-Job skills being tested in MapleStory Classic!
Some of the second-job skills you can see are:
- Bless - Cleric
- Heal - Cleric
- Holy Arrow - Cleric
We also got our first glimpse at Magician's 1st Job Skill UI. The skill list includes no new skills for Magician 1st job, but the description on the Energy Bolt skill has changed:
Use MP to attack one enemy. The higher the Mastery, the lower the damage variation
[Current Level 1]
MP -5; Basic Attack: 30. Master Level 1.
Finally, in another screenshot we see a player with what appears to be Red Snowshoes in their inventory. This item is sold from Rumi in El Nath, so this could hint that El Nath is also available! It could also just be items given to players for the playtest- we don't know!
We already know MapleStory Classic has changed some skills based on a previous playtest. Whether or not those changes will make it into the final build who knows!
This alpha-build might be one of the final ones that players can expect to play at Maple Con, where attendees will get to play MapleStory Classic in what is being described as the first public test.
MapleStory Classic was officially announced in Apirl 2025 for the 25th Anniversary of MapleStory GMS. The game is being lead by an original MapleStory developer: Nemi, also known as Miyoung Oh, who was part of the original Wizet Team that developed MapleStory Korea in 2001.
No release date for MapleStory Classic has been announced, but expect more news to be released at Maple Con in October 25th 2025.
